Improv Workshops

The Bovine School of Improv presents:

MASTER CLASS
with Steve Harwood

Steve Harwood

Setting Scenes in Motion Through Emotion:  This Master Class will teach the importance of emotional choices in a scene.  Using Steve's techniques, improvisers will be armed with near-foolproof methods of starting scenes and discovering the game quickly through emotional decisions.

Steve Harwood has been improvising for over 14 years.  He trained at iO in LA, where his show "The Award Winning Documentary" ran for four years.  He's also trained at UCB, the Groundlings, and The Second City in Los Angeles.  His podcast, "The Expertologists," can be downloaded on iTunes.  And, to be frank, the rest of his bio is far too controversial to mention here.  Seriously.

Mondays, 7:00 - 9:30 pm
Class dates: August 2, 9, 16, 23
Cost: $140

Enrollment in this class is limited to Bovine graduates or by permission (email eric@bovinemetropolis.com).

MATT DONNELLY WORKSHOPS

Saturday, August 28
Cost: $75 (or $130 for both)

Matt Donnelly

Strengths & Weaknesses Workshop
10:00 am - 1:00 pm
ENROLL ONLINE
Enrollment in this workshop is limited to Bovine graduates or by permission (email eric@bovinemetropolis.com).

In this workshop, each student will communicate his/her strengths and weaknesses and Matt will set up scenes with specific parameters that attack those weaknesses. Students will also refine and sharpen strengths or address habits that evolve from relying on certain strengths.  Scene work, form work, tag outs, walk-ons, status, initiating, following and supporting, getting out of

your head, playing new characters, getting inspired or refueling creativity: nothing is off limits.  Matt brings the wisdom of his 16 years in improvisation and lends his focus completely to each individual in the workshop.  Rather than teach one method of improv, students communicate their own method to Matt and receive feedback.  The goal of this is class is for each student to feel good, look good, and be great the next time they take the stage.

Speed Harold Intensive
2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
ENROLL ONLINE
Enrollment in this workshop is limited to Bovine graduates or by permission (email eric@bovinemetropolis.com).

This class re-examines the principles of the original Harold (patterns, group scenes, heightening with solid scene work), and builds a new form that advances those principles in a more modern and faster form.  This class will cover the Greeks: Seven Pillars of Art as a basic form/piece vocabulary so that students can examine their performance pieces with the same articulate depth that they examine their scene work.  Further, students will learn how to be guiltlessly aggressive as a group and how to attain Speed - a run of rapid fire scenes that end a performance piece rather than shoe-horning all connections into one "closer" scene.
