"Show Polish - Be Professionals"
Or just look like ones!

Instructor: Linda Klein
Saturday, June 9, 10:00 am - 5:00 PM
$75

You've got skills, now your group needs shine. Explore how to have more professionalism, get more publicity and turn out a more slick-looking performance every time you hit the stage. This one-day workshop includes discussion, practice, coaching and handouts (the paper kind, not the money kind.) If possible, you are encouraged to attend with your whole troupe.

Linda Klein has been a cherished member of the Denver comedy scene for the last 13 years and has worked professionally as a part of the comedy trio, A.C.E. Entertainment, for the last eight. She and her "partners in humor" have produced over 40 original stage productions along the front range and have also played stages in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and internationally. Since its inception, Ms. Klein has been the spin-machine behind the group's notorious (and often shameless) promotional efforts. www.ACEcomedy.com

Pick up some techniques for setting mood and location, and for finding edits during the show and for the final blackout. You'll also learn your way around the theater's tech booth! Students will spend time on stage and in the booth during this class to keep perspective on both sides of the light board.

Frank Haas has been working as Technical Director for the Bovine for the last four years, engineering lights and sound for 13 Bovine Sketch shows as well as both productions of “So Many Ladies,” and too many improv shows to count. Frank is also a 2 time graduate of the Bovine Metropolis Theater's Improv School plays frequently with several Denver groups.

Can you rhyme? Do you like to make up words to already existing songs? Are you looking for something new to add to your comedy bag of tricks? You don't have to be a singer to enjoy this class. Learn the basic power of creating lyrics in the moment to enhance your improv. You will learn how to make up songs quickly and easily and adapt them into your games or even your long form performances. Add richness and depth to your scenes and characters through lyric comedy. Yeah!

This two day workshop will explore the art of 'jumping'--stepping into the light with absolutely nothing in your mind but readiness. We'll examine this as a method for moving scenes forward organically, without planning or writing out the scene in your head beforehand. You'll leave with a greater trust in yourself and some techniques to expand this unnerving moment into a comfortable working space. We'll celebrate our experimental ponderings with a show! Don't think about it. Jump.

Since his start, he has opened for Brian Regan at the Denver Comedy Works, swapped jokes with Rocky Laporte, become a national finalist in USA Network's 2006 "Show Us Your Character" contest, and he took first place in the Starz/Jumpcut Stand-up contest. Work with the Bovine’s house musician to learn the full magic of musical improv. This workshop gives you the chance to work with a musician while improvising and provides some techniques in breaking into song at a moment’s notice with the incredible support of live music. We’ll also examine how music influences mood and direction when used to underscore the action of a scene when playing with accompaniment. Also be ready for some freeplay musical improv games and plenty of moving around. This workshop culminates in a performance for friends and family—a great chance to practice these unique skills!

Seymour Muchmore has been involved in the entertainment biz for most of his adult and pre-adult life. He's been a stand-up comic, announcer/emcee, actor and fronted his own theater/rock band, Seymour Muchmore and the Muchmorons, which opened up for Spinal Tap during their first tour. He's been playing piano for improv comedy for over thirty years and is the Musical Director for Bovine’s sketch comedy revues.

Explore and experiment with the natural rhythmic flow of life as it relates to long form improvisation. In this two-day workshop you will analyze the rhythms, beats, and tempos of people, characters, relationships, improv, and the time-space continuum. We will also spend some time exploring the unique and remarkable ability of humans to believe in intangible concepts and deepen the reality of non-existing moments. All this, while trying not to take ourselves too seriously. The workshop will exhibit your heightened awareness with a show for friends and family! Come with open minds and ready to play.

Matthew Taylor has been performing and teaching improvisation in the Denver area for the last fifteen years. He has had the pleasure to be a performing member of Comedy Sportz, Reaction Slacks and Headgames. For the last eight years, Matthew has proudly played the Englishman in the international comedy trio A.C.E. with whom he has had the good fortune to have traveled to exotic places and consume fu-fu umbrella-ed drinks in the name of comedy. His passion for long form improvisation developed during the early Reaction Slacks days and has remained a major focus to this day. When not performing or teaching improv, Matthew is a commercial actor, a happy husband, and father of two smashing kids.
