Have a Nice Play - Bovine House Team
"Creativity is magic. Don't examine it too closely." —Edward Albee
Want to see magic happen on stage? Want to see a play materialize before your very eyes? Want to get some culture and laugh your head off at the same time?
Look no further than Have a Nice Play, doing the seemingly impossible, and creating a completely new play on stage before your very eyes, on Thursday Nights.
These people are theatrical, these people are funny, these people know how to play. Have A Nice Play, will improvise great works of literature, and you will never see them again.
Coached by Eric Farone. The players are: Jean Schuman, Cheryl Pack, Macy Matarazzo, Natalie Kilkenny, Sam Gallaher, Spencer Reedy, Erika Gonzalez and Brian Kaplin.
Eric has been doing Improv for over 20 years, most of it in Denver. He started learning improv in Chicago at The Second City, IO, Players Workshop, and at the Annoyance Theater. He then moved back to continue his exploration of the art. He directed and owned HeadGames for a time and then started the Acme Comedy Players. Eric and his wife Denise Maes then founded the Bovine Metropolis. They have been in business for over 15 years and operating the space at 1527 Champa for the last 11 years. He would like to thank everyone for the continued support and invite you to come down to the theater for a good laugh.
Sam began improvising around 2005 when he enrolled in the Bovine Metropolis classes. His first show was with “My Favourite Troupe” (the 36th graduating class at the Bovine). He’s taken many principles of improvisation into his real life resulting in bigger and better decisions; currently he is single, unemployed, and pursing an MPA at UC Denver’s School of Public Affairs. Sam performs at the “BMX” every Thursday with MooCrew. Starting in September you will find him reliving the lives of honored guests in the upcoming show “Biography”.
Erika Gonzalez has been performing improv and sketch comedy for the past three years. A graduate (class # 12) of Players Workshop West, she has appeared in ACME Comedy Players productions and the play, Thank You for Changing My Pathetic Life. She also performs regularly with the improv group, Collect the Whole Set.
Brian is a graduate of Bovine's 52nd class. He is a wandering merchant, storyteller, and mystic, shipwrecked in Denver.
Natalie delights audiences with the popular all female improv troupe, Dishwater Blondes, as a regular of the Bovine Metropolis Theater Friday night House Team and as a competitor in this seasons Denver's Next Improv Star. Natalie also teaches improv at the Bovine School of Improv. Natalie has performed throughout the Denver Metro area as well as at the Ladies Are Funny Festival (LAFF) in Austin,TX and the Twin Cities Improv Festival in Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. In addition to her live performances, she is also on the GroupMind Foundation Board of Directors, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich, educate, and entertain our community through the art of improvisational theater.
Macy Matarazzo is proud graduate of the Bovine's 37th class of Improvisational Theater. A New Hampshire Native, Macy moved out to Colorado because her friend Lynn said to. Macy graduated from Cornell College with a BA in Fine Arts and Theater performance, and completed her Masters in Puppetry Arts at the Central School of Speech and drama in London, England. Macy also loves to paint happy pictures, sew clothes for Chihuahuas, cook stuff and teach Kundalini yoga. She is currently working on manifesting herself a handsome rich man who will take her out for sushi.
Cheryl Pack is a technical trainer/course designer by day and an improviser by night. She completed the Bovine training courses in late 2009, but she has been doing her own form of improv since she could talk. Formalized improv has led her on a fun and fascinating journey into theater life. Cheryl has performed with various teams around town including the Bovine house team Maude, Stephen Wilder’s team Playground Mafia, The YesLab house team, and DosChicas with Linnea Brutlag. She has experience in short and long form improv. Currently addicted to improv workshops, she takes as many as her time and pocketbook will allow. In early 2010, Cheryl performed in the hit Bovine show “Denver’s Next Improv Star” where she endured until the semi-finals. In 2011, she played the Nurse in the sold out show "Redneck Romeo & Juliet" at the Dangerous theater. Currently, she is performing with the Bovine house team "Have a Nice Play" and at The Voodoo Comedy Playhouse as part of "The Secret Service" team. Cheryl believes that if you say “yes” to life you are rewarded with unexpected adventure.
Spencer has been performing at the Bovine and in the Denver Improv community for over 4 years. He has performed in the Bovine's own Acme Comedy Players 22nd, 23rd, and 25th sketch shows and Sanscript Players. In 2005 he performed in Boulder's Inaugural Fringe Festival w/ "Mood Swingers". He currently can be seen in the Bovine's "On the Spot" cast. He also performs monthly with "Spike Improv".
Jean performs regularly with Moo Crew at the Thursday Night Throwdowns. Come check out the battle and be blown away by the awesomeness of the crew.
