Comedy & Cupcakes: Delores Project: February 2011 Comedy for A Cause

An evening of laughter to benefit local non-profit organizations

Helping to end homelessness may be easier than you think, and Bovine Metropolis Theater aims to make doing good works fun as well. February’s Comedy for a Cause program is a collaboration between Improv Royale and The Delores Project, a non-profit dedicated to securing shelter and necessary transitional support services for homeless women and those in need.

“I think the Bovine provides a unique and fun way to bring new and existing donors together while providing information about our organization,” said Community Volunteer, Nicole Hagg.

Every night The Delores Project ensures that at least 50 women are safely off the streets — women who might otherwise face the risk of physical danger and illness that comes with living on the streets. The Delores project is excited to be partnering with Bovine Metropolis Theater through Comedy for a Cause.

“As a result of our partnership, we hope to expand awareness of The Delores Project's work and impact in the community while providing our supporters the opportunity for an entertaining evening out,” said Nicole.

The Delores Project provides safe, comfortable overnight shelter and services to unaccompanied adult women who are homeless and have limited resources. The model of service is one of hospitality, respect, and regard for the dignity of each guest.

The Delores Project sheltered 475 individual women in 2010. Of the 62 women who were sheltered in The Delores Project's Transitional Shelter program 25% moved into long-term housing with the support of The Delores Project's Transitional Advocate.

February’s Comedy for a Cause will show Thursday, February 17th, at 7:30 pm Tickets are $16 with half of all ticket proceeds going directly to The Delores Project.
