Made with Love
I love watching my wife make my kids lunches (I mean helping). She puts the healthy stuff in the lunchboxes, but does it in a way the girls will love it.
My wife cuts off the crust of the bread off the sandwiches. Josie doesn’t like them and Julia has few front teeth so the tough crust of the wheat bread is hard for her. They always have a veggie and sometimes dip, Vidalia Onion for Julia and Ranch for Josie. We try to make sure the get fresh fruit at every lunch too, today it is plums. It takes anywhere from 20-30 minutes for my wife to make these lunches, but the girls love them and can’t wait to see what was made special for them tomorrow.
It is all about making a lunch that is good for the kids, that the kids will eat and that we are proud of serving. When my kids grow up they hopefully they will think back on this that mom made our lunches with love.
This is how I think Improv should be.
You make it with love. You put in the things you want to, to make it your own, but you make sure that it is what the audience is wanting too.
We don’t put in anything too spicy or the same thing every time. We don’t make it so artsy that you have to be a N.E.A. grant writer in order to enjoy it. We pay attention to details and focus on making sure that it is balanced not to bitter and not too sweet. We don’t put in too much or give them so little that they go hungry. We take our time and do it right.
After we are done with a show we should be proud of what we did and the audience should be excited about the next time they come back.
Shows should be everyday gifts to the audience. Ones we make with love and can’t wait to give to them.
That’s what I think.
